  • "Vest has drawn on Gulf Coast memories for a most amazing set of songs...all excellent and delivered perfectly." - Maple Blues Magazine
  • "David Vest revives a blues era on new album" - Martyr Magazine
  • Although he now calls Canada home, Vest is an authentic, Southern-bred boogie-woogie piano pounder and old-school house-rocker. Vest was born in Alabama in 1943, and grew up in Birmingham, not far from Tuxedo Junction. He played his first paying gig in 1957, and by the time he opened for Roy Orbison on New Yearís Day 1962, he was a seasoned veteran of Gulf Coast roadhouses and honky-tonks.

David also worked the southern gospel circuit and wrote the first songs recorded by Tammy Wynette, producing the very first demos that took her to Nashville. He toured with Big Joe Turner, Jimmy T99 Nelson and Miss Lavelle White, and jammed with the likes of Arnett Cobb, Milt Larkin, Jimmy Ford and Straight No Chaser.

These are the sort of experiences that have inspired Roadhouse Revelation Ė and Vest has the stories to prove it. His nicely weathered, unpretentious voice perfectly complements his playing, and is backed by a top-notch band featuring the great Teddy Leonard (Fathead) on guitar, Gary Kendall (Downchild) on bass and Mike Fitzpatrick (Downchild), on drums.

His first Canadian recording, East Meets Vest, was named one of the best blues albums of 2012 by Holger Petersen of CBCís Saturday Night Blues and earned a Maple Blues nomination for Recording of the Year. In 2014, newly signed to Cordova Bay Records, he will be touring widely to promote his new release.

Roadhouse Revelation was recorded by Grammy-nominated engineer Jeremy Darby. It features ten Vest originals, including a never-before heard song co-written with Paul deLay, as well as Davidís definitive cover of the Hank Williams classic, Rambliní Man.

Time has done little to diminish David's energy, skill and creative drive. Working solo or with his band, he continues to bring audiences to their feet and to demonstrate why he has been called, "one of the greatest living boogie-woogie piano players."
