Paul Quarrington

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Toronto, ON (March 3, 2010) -- QAS / SAQ, in collaboration with BookShorts, CTV Bravo, Cordova Bay Entertainment, and Greystone Books, is pleased to announce a public memorial event for our "poster boy" -- PAUL QUARRINGTON.

It will take place TUESDAY, APRIL 13 at The Opera House (735 Queen St. East, Toronto, Ontario).

Where the October event at International Festival of Authors was positioned as a tribute to Paul and he was there in the room; and a spontaneous event broke out at Dora Keogh on January 22 because he had just left the room **; this event will be focused on the performance of PQ's work, and presentations inspired by his work, as testament to the creative gifts - especially musical gifts -- he has given to his audiences, friends and family.

Artists on stage will include featured bands: Porkbelly Futures, Bidiniband and Soul Stew along with musical guests Jim Cuddy, Anne Lindsay, Dan Hill, Joe Hall, Melanie Doane. Each set will start with a segment on film featuring the man of the hour. Baldini the magician will present wonderousness and scenes adapted from PQ's literary and stage work will be performed. Dave Bidini will announce a new sports writing award in Paul's name, and there will be game tables for those who like to play. Family members will celebrate with everyone. PQ's solo CD called "Paul Quarrington: The Songs," Paul's new book "Cigar Box Banjo" and the documentary film "Paul Quarrington: Life in Music" - all of which are to be released / broadcast in May - will be highlighted during the evening, along with the work of the Quarrington Arts Society.

This will be a ticketed event open to the public. Two levels of tickets are available:
